Funeral Set Today for Mrs. M. Ward, 86
Mapleton, Iowa—Special; Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Ward, 86, who died Saturday at Mapleton after an illness of four weeks, were held at Byers Funeral Home here at 10 a.m. Tuesday and at the United Brethren Church at Blair, Nebraska at 2 p.m.
Rev. Lee Henry officiated at service at Mapleton. Burial was in the Bertha Cemetery near Oakland, Nebraska.
Mrs. Ward was born October 11, 1861, in Michigan and moved to a homestead near Blair with her parents when she was 11.
She was married to Alonzo M. Ward at Takamah in 1880 and lived there until moving to Mapleton five years ago. She was a member of the United Brethren Church at Blair.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Newman of Mapleton and Mrs. Millie Cleveland of Geddes, South Dakota; three sons, William of Blair, Albert of Mapleton and Lewis of Hindsdale, Mont.; 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
