"Is Dead at 68"
Fred B. Blend, 68, of 1911 Thirty-fourth st., a Des Moines resident 44 years, died of a heart ailment Friday at Iowa Methodist Hospital after a 10-day illness.
Born in Evansville, Ind., Mr. Blend was employed by the Iowa Employment Security Commission. He belonged to Westminister United Presbyterian, Pioneer Masonic Lodge and was a charter member of Argonne American Legion Post.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel R., and a son, James F., both of Des Moines; a brother, Gordon B., of Columbus, Ohio, and a niece reared in the Blend home, Mrs. John C. Nevin, of Portland, Ore.
The body was taken to Dunn's Funeral Home.
