Lena Katherine "Lena Kate" Jennings was born May 1, 1935, to Homer Clifton Jennings and Annie Lee McKinnis Jennings in Kemper County, MS.

During her youth, she joined New Hope United Methodist Church in DeKalb, MS.

She received her education from New Hope School in DeKalb, MS, and Whisenton High School in DeKalb, MS.

She died December 22, 1956, at the age of 21.

She was the Daughter of Homer Clifton Jennings and Annie Lee McKinnis Jennings; the Sister of Genious "Gee Bo" Jennings, Johnnie "Bill" Jennings, Dora Dean Jennings Paylor, Hattie Marceline "Mot" Jennings Proctor, Effie Jean Jennings Lee, Vinnie Florine Jennings Bryant, Mary Louise Jennings Edwards, and Alpha Dessie Ree Jennings; the Paternal Granddaughter of Homer Robert Clifton "Jumper" Jennings and Hattie Smith Jennings; and the Maternal Granddaughter of Charlie Stits and Lena Bates.
