He married Avis Pederson Liddell on Aug. 10, 1953, in First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Melville D. Nesbit Jr., pastor, officiating. She died May 10, 1962. He then married Janice Van Hyning Free on Oct. 29, 1966, at his home on Riverside Drive with the late Rev. Jack Wells officiating.
From 1956 to 1969, Mr. Brydon was employed in management at the former Diamond International paper mill. He was then appointed executive director of United Way of St. Lawrence County, a position he held until 1974. At that time, he became corporate secretary of North Country Savings Bank and was responsible for the bank's marketing, insurance and retirement products, retiring in 1989.
Active in community affairs, he was a member, elder, trustee and former deacon of First Presbyterian Church, a member and past president of the Ogdensburg Rotary Club, a member of the Hepburn Hospital Development Council, a member and vice president of the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce, a councilman for the township of Oswegatchie, chairman of the Oswegatchie Development Corp., and a former member of the board of directors of the St Lawrence Association for Retarded Children.
