Funeral services for Ruby Marie Berry, 88, were held Aug. 27, 2008 at Norman Pentecostal Church of God with the Rev. DuWayne Bridges Jr. and the Rev. Jack Tracy officiating. Interment was at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mrs. Berry died Aug. 23, 2008 in Valley, Ala.
She was born May 4, 1920 in Turkey, Texas, the daughter of Charlie Newton Malicoat and Gracie Vera (Bissell) Malicoat. She moved to Oklahoma by wagon train as a young child and remained living here until 2006.
When Ruby was 11 her mother died and she was forced to quit school and stay home to help her father rear her four younger siblings, Truman, Jessie, Edna Mae and Hazel.
Mrs. Berry retired from the Veteran's Hospital in Norman as a supervisor in food service.
She was a member of the Norman Pentecostal Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Truman, Jessie and Edna Mae and one daughter, Barbara Miller.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Meek and her husband, John, of Shawnee and Patricia Bridges and her husband, DuWayne, of Valley, Ala.; eight grandchildren; one son-in-law, Sonny Miller of Little Axe; one sister, Hazel Graham of Shawnee and numerous great-grandchildren.
