Mrs. Cora M. Bearce, 82, Hiawatha, died early Monday morning, June 2, 1980 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital following an extended illness. She was born January 22, 1898 near Everest, Kans., the daughter of Albert and Mary Jane Parker Geiger and had lived in Northeast Kansas all of her life. She had lived on a farm north of Hiawatha for 40 years before moving to town in 1970. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hiawatha where she was a teacher of the "U & I" Sunday School Class; and an active member of the Hiawatha Rebekah Lodge 831.

She was married to Walter Bearce in April of 1931 in Hiawatha. He survives at the home. She is also survived by two sisters; Mrs. Dola Hauber of Hiawatha, and Mrs. Lula Kelsall of Kansas City, Mo.; two nieces, Mrs. Evelyn Binkley of Atchison, and Mrs. Mary Lou Baker of Leawood, Kansas, and one nephew, Leslie Nottingham of Everest. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mrs. Birdie Nottingham in 1974 and one brother Clarence Geiger in 1955.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock Wednesday, June 4, at the First Presbyterian Church of Hiawatha, with the Rev. Chandler Benton officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson. Friends may call at the Casselman-Meek Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Wednesday when the body will be taken to church to lie in state until service time.
