Mrs. John Gross
Mrs. John (Gertrude) Gross, 84, Lastrup, died today in St. Mary's Villa, Pierz. She was born Nov. 15, 1885, in Morrison County, grew up and attended school in the area. She was married to John L. Gross in Pierz, Nov. 7, 1904, and in 1913 they moved to Lastrup, where he served as postmaster. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons and two daughters.
Surviving her are five sons and one daughter: Frank, John and Gertrude, Lastrup; Herman and Henry, St. Cloud, and Mathew, Long Prairie. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Kubitschek. Surviving sisters are Anne Kubitschek and Agnes Pretzer, St. Cloud. There are 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. John's Church, Lastrup, with Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating, and burial in the parish cemetery. Friends mays call at the Brenny Funeral Home, Pierz, after noon Friday. The parish Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m. and the Christian Mothers will pray the Rosary at 9:15 p.m.
