Lawrence H. Huenefeld was son of Wilhelm and Wilhelmina (Schoppenhorst) Huenefeld. He married Sarah Melvina Logan 24 March 1914. After his sudden and unexpected death from heart failure at 33 years, he was survived by his wife, Sarah, and two children: Vuanita Nadine born 1915 and Marcella Lorene born 1917. His widow married Charles Frederick Edmond Lichte in 1924.

Jane Denny had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Huenefeld's daughter Marcella (Huenefeld) Whittington when both were well into adulthood. The two, together, pursued their common interest in family history sharing correspondence and each other's company. Mrs. Whittington spoke fondly of her father, Lawrence, and the sadness of losing him when she was just a young child. She reported that the Huenefeld family always maintained contact with her, her mother, and sister through the years and after her mother's marriage to Mr. Lichte.

Mr. Huenefeld's obituary appeared in the Montgomery Standard12 March 1920:

Lawrence H. Huenefeld was born 1 miles west of Big Spring Sept. 28, 1886, and lived there all his life. On March 24, 1914, he was married to Miss Melvina Logan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Logan of near New Florence, who with two little daughters, Vineta, aged 4 years, and Marcella, aged 2 years, survive him. He also leaves his mother, 5 brothers and 3 sisters as follows: B. W. Huenefeld of Odessa, P. J Huenefeld, of Bagard, G. M. Huenefed of Big Spring, L. A. Huenefeld of St. Louis, Mrs. Edw. Lichte of Sheridan, Mont., Mrs. Wm. Lichte of Bland, and Mrs. F. E. Hart of Big Spring. About six weeks ago he had the misfortune of breaking his leg. He was slowly recovering from the accident and was expected to be out on crutches in a few days, when suddenly on February 25, at 4:30 a.m., the death angel called him to the Great Beyond. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. Pfundt of St. Louis Friday afternoon at the Big Spring Evang. church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Evang. cemetery. His earthly career came to a close at the useful age of 33 years, 4 months and 27 days.
