Hezekiah was the son of Benjamin Wetherbee and his wife Keziah Monroe.

On April 30, 1775, Hezekiah enlisted for eight months as a Private in Captain Phillip Thomas's Company (7th Company) in Colonel James Reed's New Hampshire Regiment. Hezekiah served to the end of his term.

On September 27, 1777, Hezekiah enter into service as a Private with Captain Daniel Rand's Company in Colonel Daniel Moore's Regiment of Volunteers which marched from Rindge, New Hampshire and joined the Northern Continental Army under General Gates. The Regiment traveled 130 miles from Rindge to Bennington, Vermont and on it's return it traveled 160 miles from Saratoga, New York. The Regiment was discharged on October 18, 1777 after being allowed 8 days travel home from Saratoga. Hezekiah was discharge with the regiment. The regiment (38 men) and five horses were ferried twice over the Connecticut River during this sevice.

On September 1, 1779, Hezekiah, then of the 15th Regiment of New Hampshire Militia commanded by Colonel Enoch Hale, enlisted to serve for one year in one of three New Hampshire Battalions being mustered for Continental service. During this service, Hezekiah was in Captain Stephen Rowel's Company, Colonel George Reed's Regiment, the Second Regiment of the New Hampshire Continental Line. Hezekiah served out the full period of this enlistment.

During the later part of the Revolutionary War (1777-1782), Hezekiah resided in New Ispwich, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.

Hezekiah married, June 8, 1783 in Westminster, Windham County, Vermont, Lucy Hale (1766-1857) by whom he had 11 children (5 born in New Hampshire before moving to Vermont in 1794): Benjamin (1785-1805); Enoch (1787-1863); Elizabeth (1789-1866); Moses (1791-1868); Abigail (1793-1857); Ruth (1795-1797); Lucy (1797-1879); Sarah (1800-1863); Azubah (1802-1840); Eunice (1805-1852); and Caroline (b. 1807).

Hezekiah died from injuries received in drawing wood with oxen.
