Joseph P. Bradley
Birth: Mar. 14, 1813
Death: Jan. 22, 1892

United States Supreme Court Associate Justice. Born in Berne, New York, he graduated from Rutgers University in 1836, studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1839. For thirty years, he specialized in the practice of patent, commercial, and railroad law. During the Civil War, he lobbyed as a Unionist representative in Washington, for a compromise settlement between the northern and southern states. In 1870, President Ulysses S. Grant appointed Bradley Justice to the Supreme Court of the United States and he served until his death at age 78 in Washington D.C. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
