Mabel Hendricks Pond, 96, died Friday, June 21, 1991 at the Sunshine Terrace in Logan of caues incident to age.

She was born January 22, 1895 in Richmond, Utah, the daughter of James Warren Hendricks and Frances Lucy Traveller. Mrs. Pond graduated from Brigham Young College in Logan in 1915, and she attended Utah State University. Mabel married H. Ray Pond, of Lewiston, Utah on June 28, 1920 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ray and Mabel made their home in Burley, Idaho for two years and then returned to Richmond, Utah. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the Benson Stake Relief Society as a Board Member, Counselor and as President. She also served as a Counselor in the Stake Young Women's Organization and was a Gospel Doctrine Teacher in Sunday School. Mrs. Pond was active in many farm organizations, including the Ladies Farm Bureau Auxiliary, The Cache Valley Dairy Association and Utah Poultry, where she wrote under the name of ''Henrietta the Hen''. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mabel Pond was selected as Utah's first Mother of the Year in 1946.

She is survived by three daughters, one son, Mrs. Llewellyn (Marian) Bodrero, of Mesa, Arizona; Mrs. Lowell (Janet) Howe, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. Theron J. (Judy) Godfrey, of Layton, Utah; and Richard D. Pond, of Grand Junction, Colorado; 14 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Carlyle and her daughter, Louise,(F.A.G.23286855)who died in infancy, along with her husband, parents, 10 brothers and sisters, a son in law, and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 1991 at the Cove LDS Ward Chapel in Cove, Utah, with Bishop Melvin G. Saddler conducting. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan Monday from 7-9 p.m. and at the Cove Ward on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. Interment, Richmond City Cemetery.
