Confederate officer. Graduated from U.S. Military Academy - 1858; Lt., U. S. Cavalry - 1858-61; Colonel, 12th North Carolina Cavalry - May 14, 1861; Colonel, 2nd North Carolina Cavalry - June 6, 1862; killed at Brandy Station - June 9, 1863. Married Maggie Pegram 2 weeks before he was killed.
