A beautiful last tribute was paid the memory of Mrs. Serve DuBose on Tuesday afternoon March 1, funeral services were held at the home of her daughter Mrs. George Hinton with scores of loved ones and friends in attendance. Her death came after two years of ill health and three weeks of critical illness.

Rev. K. C. Minter, pastor of the First Methodist church of Gonzales, conducted the services, assisted by Rev. Hal C. Wings, pastor of the First Baptist church and Rev. C. M. Campbell, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Rev. Minter read the 23rd Psalm, a part of the 8th chapter of Romans and the 15th chapter of Corinthians. In a beautiful worded eulogy he paid high tribute to the high character and fine womanly traits of the deceased, that had made her beloved and respected by all who were privileged to know her. Rev. Wings lead in prayer opening the services and Rev. Campbell read the scripture and also lead in prayer.

Two beautiful old hymns sang during the funeral service of Mrs. DuBose mother by her request, were rendered by the choir, "Sweet Bye and Bye" and " Jesus Lover of My Soul". Another hymn was "Abide With Me."

Interment was in the DuBose-Haven cemetery, where the new made mound was banked high with fragrant and beautiful flowers that were sent by friends and relatives both at home and afar. Each floral offering being a meaningful token of high esteem and love for the deceased and a message of sympathy for the bereaved ones.

Mrs. DuBose at the age of 17 years affiliated with the Hamon Methodist church and throughout her entire life was known to be a consecrated Christian, aspiring to and upholding the highest ideals through her long and useful life.
