| Birth: | 1909 | | Death: | 1939 |  Race Car Driver. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he began his driving career as part of the midget car race team known as "The Chicago Gang". They toured tracks in the Midwest and East Coast of the United States and he won the 1937 track championship at the Chicago Amory and Riverview Race. Also that same year, he set a new track record at the annual Indianapolis 500. Snyder appeared in five Indianapolis 500 events, won the pole position for the 1939 Indianapolis 500, setting another new track record in the process and finished second in the race. On June 29, 1939, while racing in a midget car promotion event at Cahokia, Illinois, he was killed when his car crashed. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
