Professional Football Player, Coach. For twelve seasons (1959 to 1970), he played at the defensive tackle position in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins. Born Floyd Charles Peters, he was raised in California where he attended John Swett High School. He played collegiate football at San Francisco State University, prior to being drafted by the Baltimore Colts during the 8th round of the 1958 NFL Draft. He totaled 145 career regular season games and distinguished himself, when he achieved Pro-Bowl honors three-times (1964, 1966 & 1967). After retiring as a player, he began a lengthy coaching career, initially as a defensive lines coach with the New York Giants (1974 to 1975), followed by stints with the San Francisco 49ers (1976 to 1977), Detroit Lions (1978 to 1981), St. Louis Cardinals (1982 to 1985), Minnesota Vikings (1986 to 1990), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1991 to 1994) and Oakland Raiders (1995 to 1996). He died for complications from Alzheimer's disease.
