Smith married Sibbel (Morehouse) in 1805 in Colebrook, Litchfield, Ct.

At the age of 25 he moved Southington, Trumbull Co. Ohio, where he settled as a farmer.

He was a Corp. in the War of 1812, enlisted with Capt. Elihu Mose's Co.
