Enlisted in the Civil war in April 16th, 1864 in Troy, New York, Co. H 6th Arty. Separation date 10 May 1864. Listed as a Veteran of the 2nd Infantry. Blue eyes, dark hair, dark complexion, 28 years old, 5’4”, born in Galway Co. Ireland. Occupation Laborer. (New York State Archives)

He is listed as a “farmer” on all the census, but his daughter “Lizzie” reported he was a minister.

He married on 18 Jun 1854, Mary Ann Philben 1833 – 1898 from Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland
