Enoch Boynton is the son of of Enoch and Abigail (Tarrington) Boynton. He married Alice Adams on April 25, 1799.
Marriage: Bointon, Enoch, and Alice Adams, April 25, 1799. Intention. >Vital Records of Newbury, Mass., p50.
Yes, that is the way Boynton was spelled in the records. >B.L.H.
Enoch was an inn-holder in Newbury, near Dummer Academy in the early part of the century.
Not listed here are two children:
Sarah Dole Boynton who was born on February 14, 1802 in Newbury, Massachusetts and died November 1861. One source states she was unmarried, yet another identifies James Bates as her husband. In the Newbury Vitals under marriages we find that she did indeed marry. On June 25, 1829 she and James Bates filed their marriage intention. Let's assume that the marriage did take place.
Another child, Adding who was born May 27, 1806 and died in September of 1882. He married Roxena S. whose last name has yet to be revealed. Adding had his name changed to John C Hastings. He died at Great Falls, N.H. Though not a town name now, it was Great Falls, N.H. & Berwick, Maine. >B.L.H.
Adding was born May 27, 1806. He married December 6, 1888, Roxana Stevens of North Brookfield, Mass. They had two daughters, now deceased. He died August 27, 1882. > A Genealogical History of Robert Adams of Newbury p233. Note the two spellings Roxena and Roxana. My guess is that the second one is correct. How about you?
