Wayman Woodrow Harbaugh, 86, of Strawberry Point, formerly of Colesburg died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Regional Medical Center, Manchester, following a short illness. Services were conducted Wednesday, April 10.
Wayman was born April 3, 1916, near Garber, to Jefferson and Edith (Hansel) Harbaugh.
Wayman attended the Studebaker country school, and graduated from Colesburg High School in 1934. He then lived and worked in the Manchester area.
On April 17, 1944, he was united in marriage with Florence Stinger.
After moving to the Cedar Rapids - Marion area, he worked as a machinist and safety inspector for Iowa Manufacturing Co. Upon retirement, Wayman and Florence moved to Diamond City Ark., where they enjoyed a number of years together.
After the death of his wife in 1995, Wayman returned to Northeast Iowa, residing most recently at the Gernand Center in Strawberry Point. He enjoyed life. Some of his pleasures were reading, traveling, fishing, baseball, music, and most of all, other people. He has left many of us with wonderful memories.
Survivors include his sister, Edith Thein, of Janesville; a brother-in-law, Francis Stinger, of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews; and his extended family.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Florence; his parents; five brothers, Ezra, Strother (Totsie), Leon, Malcolm, and Murray; and two sisters, Mahala Ridenour, and Jessie Elledge.
