Daniel was the fourth son of David and Lena Jordan. In January of 1943, he decided to serve our country by enlisting in the army and going to war. He served in the 112th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Battalion of the 28th Infantry Division. On December 20th, 1944, while fighting at the Battle of the Bulge in Germany, Daniel was killed in action. Due to the high number of young American GI's killed and the perilous conditions, his family was not able to receive his body for 4 1/2 years. He was buried initially at the U.S. Military Cemetery Foy, plot J, row 9, grave 220. On March 26, 1949, his family closed the final chapter of his life by laying him to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery. Although he is gone, he is not forgotten and I am proud to call him my Great Uncle.
