Spring Grove Herald - Thursday, February 12, 1920 - Influenza Claims Seven of One Family - The family of Joe Hermanson, residing in the north part of Black Hammer, have suffered a terrible loss of death by influenza epidemic. Seven of the family of fourteen have been called to the Great Beyond, and at the writing, two more are in critical condition. The death of the wife and mother, Mrs. Emma Hermanson, aged 42, on last Thursday, has been followed by the death of six of the children, Edward Julius, 19 years, Clarence, 18 years, Julia, 16 years, Selmar, 9 years, Mabel, 7 years, and John. Surely, the bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.
