Samuel was the 8th of 9 children born to Daniel Brown and Sarah Titus Brown; husband of 3 wives; the 1st was Sarah Arthur [1798-1833]; Samuel & Sarah married on 19 March 1816 at Clay Pitts, Town of Huntington, Suffolk County, L. I. and they had 9 children:John P., Anson Hicom, Alfred Titus, Sylvester F, Samuel Spafford, Benjamin Franklin,Paul N., Melinda A and Thirza T. His 2nd wife Eilza Louise Wood (1805-1848) he married abt 1833 and they had 4 children:John E, Deborah, Anna Louise and Grace Ada. His 3rd wife was Prudence(Ency) Mills Hawkins, who he married abt 1848. She left him before 1870 & was living at Brookhaven Town, Suffolk County, by that date; he was born at Eaton's Neck, Town of Huntington, Suffolk County & died at Northport, Suffolk County. His 3rd wife is buried with her first husband Capt. Reuben Hawkins at the Stony Brook M. E. Church Cemetery . From The Corrector Newspaper January 23, 1875, Samuel Brown of Northport who fell on the ice and injured his hip died from the effects thereof on Friday of last week. {January 15, 1875] He was in his 83rd year.
