William Kyle
William Kyle died yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at 300 North Barnett Street at the ripe old age of 72 years. The deceased had been a resident of this city only a short time coming here from Vernon. He was a Mason and at one time a member of Terry's Texas Rangers. The deceased was an uncle of Congressman Albert Burleson. The remains will be shipped to Vernon today for burial.

.....The committee appointed to present resolutions on the deaths of Comrade J.S. Gray and William Kyle consisting of W.E. Sellers, E.W. Taylor and George Jackson reported, paying high tributes to the sterling worth and character of the deceased.....

Captain William Kyle was born in Alabama in 1830 and died May 13. He fought in the Mexican War and then enlisted in the Confederate cause, being a Captain in Terry's Texas Rangers. He was a consistent Christian, a kind father and a staunch friend.
