Husband of Maria Catherine (Kitty) Estes Nicholson
Son of Alexander (Alex) and Sarah (Sally) Breeden Nicholson
Veteran of the Civil War - Letcher's Battery, Pegram's Battalion, Army of Northern Virginia - Cpt. Greenlee Davidson.
Mr. Albert Nicholson died at his home at Graves Mill on Tuesday, December 24, 1912 aged 79y, 8mths, 7d, and was tenderly laid to rest in the family burying ground on Wednesday, his pastor, Rev. M. C. Frazer conducting the services.
Mr. Nichols health had been declining for the past 3 years and on Saturday preceding his death he was stricken with paralysis and all that loving hearts and tender hands could do was done but were of no avail against the all conquering enemy Death so he fell asleep to wake no more on earth. He bore his suffering patiently to the end.
Of a large family of brothers and sisters, there is only one surviving member, Mrs. John Jarrell. He was married in 1854 to Miss M. C. Estes and to this union was born 12 children, 9 girls and 3 boys, 4 of whom have preceeded him to that eternal shore where all is peace and joy and love and no sorrow can enter there.
He leaves a widow and 8 children to mourn their loss, H. W. and C. G. Nicholson; Mrs P. R. Davis; Mrs Richard Jarrell, Mrs M. L. Mauck; Mrs A. D. Jenkins; Mrs R. M. Rosser and Mrs G. F. Griffith all of Madison County except the latter, who lives at Manassas and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loving father, a kind husband and a good neighbor and had been a consistant member of Graves Chapel for a number of years. A loved one from us is gone, A voice we loved is stilled, there is a vacant place in our home, which never can be filled. C.A.N.
