Death Of Loved
Woman Is Shock
To Many Here

__A host of friends and relatives are saddened by the news of the death of Mrs. Anna M. Skea, who died at her home, 908 South Sixth street at 5:15 a.m. today following a short illness. Mrs. Skea had been in poor health for some time but her condiction was not regaded as being serious until a few days ago when she suddenly became very ill, losing consciousness shortly after. She did not regain consciousness.
__Mrs. Skea had been a resident of this city for fifty years and for thirty-three years made her home at 410 First avenue west. She was well known throughout Cedar Rapids, especially in the vicinity of her old home and among the members of the Olivet Presbyterian church, of which she was a charter member, and a most active worker.
__During all these years many acts of love and charity have brought joy and comfort to homes visited by Mrs. Skea. She had been an active worker in all lines of charity and was also intensely interested in missionary work.
___Was Born in Ohio.
__Anna Martha McDaniel was born May 23, 1844, near Hamilton Ohio. In the spring of 1848 she moved with her parents to Sparta, Ill., where she lived twelve years. While in that place she entered Union Academy, where she received part of her education. Later the family moved to LaCrosse, Wis., and came from there to Cedar Rapids in 1868.
__From 1869 to 1878 Anna McDaniel was a teacher in the public schools of this city or rather in Kingston, as it was called at that time.
__Her marriage to the late Thomas Skea took place June 13, 1878, and to this union were born five children, three of whom survive; Mrs. Ray Kettering, and Miss Jennie Skea, of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. E. E. Lashbrook of Shellsburg.
__She is survived by one brother, S. S. McDaniel of Vance Junction, Colo., as well as three grandchildren, Clifford Thomas Kettering and Margaret Bernice, and Thomas Skea Lashbrook.
__Mrs. Skea has been an earnest christian since early childhood and her life has been one of stainless character.
__Funeral services will be held at the Turner chapel because of illness in the family, and will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. E. Winslow Brown will officiate and burial will be in Linwood cemetery. The family has made the request that no flowers be sent.
