~MY ANCESTOR~

The son of RICHARD & ISABEL (HARDING) BALDWIN, he was baptized in Cholesbury, Buckinghamshire, England. His father died in 1632 and Timothy was named executor of his will.
In 1638 he immigrated to Boston & then Milford in the Colony of New Haven accompanied by the wife of his second cousin, SYLVESTER BALDWIN, who died at sea on his journey to New England (See memorial of SARAH BRYAN BALDWIN). Timothy had a lot reserved for him in New Haven, but he went to Milford instead. He was a free planter in Milford on Nov. 29, 1639 and had homelot #22.

In 1642, he married MARY WELLES, daughter of GOV. THOMAS WELLES and his wife, ALICE (TOMES) WELLES. Timothy & Mary Baldwin joined the church in Milford in 1643. She died in 1647 leaving her husband and three small children including my ancestor, HANNAH (BALDWIN) BOTSFORD, Mary Baldwin Smith, Sarah Baldwin Buckingham and son, Timothy Baldwin who died young. The family removed to Guilford and while there, he married Mary, widow of John Mepham, on March 5, 1649. They returned to Milford by 1651. The children of Timothy & widow, Mary (Mepham) Balwin: Abigail Baldwin b. 1650; Ann Baldwin b. 1655; and Timothy Baldwin b. 1658, d. 1703.

His will written January 31, 1664/5, was signed by my ancestors, GEORGE CLARK SR. & GEORGE CLARK, JR., and his inventory taken Feb. 6th, 1664 was œ529-18-06. In his will he mentions daughters: Mary Smith (wife of Benjain Smith), Hannah Baldwin (married Elnathan Botsford), and Sarah Buckingham; and son, Timothy Baldwin; his wife (not by name) was appointed sole executrix.
