Samuel Shull, a much respected citizen of Duncannon, died early Saturday morning a the residence of his son in-law, Edward Rice, in that place, aged about 78 years old. His death was due to the infirmities of years. He was born in Saville township and was a young farmer when he removed to Spring township and married Miss Elvina Albert. He subsequently engaged in the merchantile business at Port Royal, Juniata County, Pa. and later returned to Perry county, residing in Wheatfield and Penn townships,(just out side Duncannon) and then in Duncannon, where his wife died April 4, 1893. The following children survived him: John A. Shull, of Poplar Bluffs, Min.; S. Linn, of Duncannon: James W. Shull of New Bloomfiled, Pa.; Dr. W.M. Shull of Hummelstown, Dauphin County, Pa.; Rebecca C., wife of Dr. J. Sunday, of Duncannon: Annie B. wife of W. Ed. Rice, of Duncannon. One daughter, Clara, wife of J.S. Whitmore, of New Bloomfield, died in 1881.
The funeral was held on Monday afternoon, services having been conducted at the house at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. O.B. McCurdy, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, of which the late Mr. Shull was a member many years.
