Lyle Duane Capellen, 64, of Hazard, died Tuesday, September 10, 1996, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the united Methodist Church in Hazard with the Rev. Brian Fugleberg officiating. Burial will be at Hazard Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna.

He was born December 31, 1931 to Frederick and Ella Zimmer Capellen in Sherman County. He was a 1948 Ravenna High School graduate.

From January 9, 1952 until February 18, 1954 he served with the U. S. Air Force.

On May 22, 1954, he married Elaine Klein in Grand Island and the couple lived in Hazard. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction and later owned and operated Capellen Service Station in Hazard. He then farmed and operated a road patrol for Sherman County.

He was a member of the church and the Litchfield American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Hazard; sons, Craig and Steven, both of Kearney; daughters, Cynthia Park, Ralston and Shelly Hunter, Pleasanton; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
