|Birth: ||Mar. 1, 1896|
|Death: ||Jan. 16, 1911|
Robert Bertha died at 8:45 Monday morning at the home of his parents, Mr & Mrs Lambert Bertha, 409 Asher street, from diabetes. His illness dated from November 1909, when he was taken ill while attending the Lafayette High School. He was able to be around until Saturday when he retired early, apparently in his usual health. Sunday morning about 2 o'clock his condition became critical and yesterday he lost consciousness. He then grew gradually weaker until the end came. He was born in Lafayette, March 1, 1896, and his entire life was spent in this city. At the age of 13 he graduated from St Mary school and then entered high school. He remained there until forced to give up his studies on account of ill health. He was an exceedingly bright young man, was popular with all who knew him and his death is an unusually sad one. He was accomplished as a musician and, had he lived, seemed destined to be heard from in the musical world. He possessed an exemplary character and his parents have the sympathy of a large circle of fiends in their bereavement. Besides the parents, three brothers - George, Alfred and Arthur, survive. The funeral was held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning from St Mary church, and the interment was in St Joseph cemetery.
