Julia Sophia Raymond (McKee) was born in New York State in 1831. As a child she attended the Methodist Church. Her Parents joined the Mormon Church in 1841 Julia was baptized into the mormon faith in 1845. soon after her father was called to Nauvoo to assist in building the Temple.
They made many friends in Nauvoo, but all too soon had to leave that beautiful city, Julia was married at Council Point, Iowa Nov 22, 1847 to Hugh McKee. In 1850 she was given her mother's baby, Anna, to raise when her mother died. In 1851 her own baby was born and died soon after birth.
Julia and Hugh came across the plains and arrived in Salt Lake City 15 Sept.1852. they settled in Spanish Fork, where Hugh built the first adobe house. She passed away in Huntington, Utah in 1901 at the age if seventy. Hugh died in 1897.
Julia has written a life history which is wonderful reading, She was truly a Pioneer.
Children: Mary Elizabeth, died as an infant.
