Arthur served with the U.S. Army during World War I. In the 1920 Olympics at Antwerp, Belgium, Arthur won a gold medel in the team small-bore event and a silver medal in the individual small-bore event.

"LIMA WOMAN'S BROTHER DIES AT ADA HOME

ADA, Nov 29 -- Captain Dale Rothrock, 52, brother of Mrs. P. Reade Marshall, of Lima, died at his home here Monday. He and his wife had moved to Ada from Columbus in September, following the death of his father, George Rothrock.
He was to have been retired from the U. S. Army on Wednesday.
Captain Rothrock was a graduate of Ohio Northern university and an expert marksman. He received a letter of congratulations from President Theodore Roosevelt upon winning the national individual rifle marksmanship competition in 1908 with a score of 499 out of a possible 500 points. He was on the American team entered for the Olympics at Antwerp, Holland, 1920.
Surviving are his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Marshall, Lima; Mrs. B. A. Ball, Richmond, Ind.; and two brothers, Paul of Glendale, Ariz., and George, of Gary, Ind. Both parents died in the last six months.
Colonel Collins of Ft. Hayes, Columbus, is in Ada assisting with funeral arrangements. After a brief service at the home Wednesday, military service and burial will occur on Thursday at the Rock Island, Ill., Arsenal. A small daughter, Madoline Kate, preceded him in death."
