North Carolina, USA
|Death: ||Jul. 12, 1856|
Michael Hudlow was my third great-grandfather and the only child of Andrew Hudlow and Barbara TANNER Hudlow.
He was a grandchild of Andreas Huttenloch who came to this country from Otisheim, Germany, arriving in Philadelphia, PA on September 14, 1753 on the ship "Edinburgh". His grandfather was, also, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, having been sworn into service with the Dunmore County (Virginia) militia on the 29th day of May, 1775.
Michael was married to Sarah "Sally" GOODE on August 24, 1808.
One can only guess why they traveled over 300 miles from North Carolina to settle in North Georgia. At that time, North Georgia was inhabited, mostly, by Indians. Other families made the trek to North Georgia with them, including some of the Tanner, Goode, Hill, and Webb families.
This is where they made their life together and became the parents of eleven children. Their children, in order of birth, were Barbara, Martha "Patsy", Elizabeth "Betsy", Andrew, Sarah, George Bowman, Joseph G., William Beaver, who was my second great-grandfather, Thomas B., Dorothy "Rothy", and Mary Ann "Nancy" Hudlow.
Their children were all taught, by example, family values and the value of hard work.
His was a very large family and he was loved and missed by all.
Several of his children are, also, buried in this cemetery. (It is believed that his wife, my third great-grandmother, Sarah, is, also, buried here near him.)
