Musician, Composer. An influential figure of the folk music scene during the 1950s and 1960s, he was a guitarist, vocalist and founding member of The Rooftop Singers. This New York City trio is best known for their number one hit "Walk Right In" (1963). Darling was previously a vocalist and banjo player with the folk trio The Tarriers, which included actor Alan Arkin; their rendition of "The Banana Boat Song" reached number four on the Billboard charts in 1956. In addition, Darling was a member of the group The Weavers.
