Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Scobell.
Richard served as a Lt. Junior Grade and a pilot of a torpedo bomber on the U.S.S. Hancock, U.S. Navy during World War II.
He resided at 60 Lake View Park, Rochester, New York prior to the war.
He was first declared "Missing In Action" when his plane did not return from a Mission to Leyte Island on October 25, 1944. He was later recoverd and awarded the Silver Star for his actions on that day.
Richard was later declared "Missing In Action" in a battle over Hong Kong Harbor. His remains were later recovered and he was then noted as "Killed In Action".
He was interred here on January 7, 1950.
He was awarded a Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, an Air Medal with two Gold Stars, and a Purple Heart.
