Boxer, Stuntman. Nicknamed "The Nebraska Wildcat" Ace began boxing at the age of 12 and turned professional at the age of 16. Throughout the 1920's, he won several California State Heavy Weight Titles. In the 1930's, he went from being a boxer to an entrepreneur when he and his brother, Art, bought a stable and began renting horses, wagons and cowboy equipment to various studios that produced western movies and television shows. They also rented land for film use and boarded horses for various stars. Soon, the Hudkins Brothers Movie Ranch was very popular among the film industry. Ace became friends with many of the stars such at Smiley Burnette, Gene Autry and John Wayne. Soon he began another phase of life. He became a stuntman and actor and worked on many films such as "The Mountain Men" and "Rio Lobo". He played a henchman in the movie "Desperadoes of the West" and played a cowboy in an episode of the popular TV western "Gunsmoke." Ace continued to do stunt work well into his 60's. His last movie was the 1966 film "Batman". Here he nearly broke his neck doing one of the stunts. He spent three weeks in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Ace died at the age of 67 and in 1995, he was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
