Charles Raymond Bailey, 67, passed away Jan. 6, 2001 from an accidental fall while cutting firewood. He was born March 10, 1933 in Eureka, a son of Charles A. and Eleanor Taylor Bailey.
Ray married Barbara Luckau. They later divorced.
He married Cristina L. Hadid on Feb. 27, 1987 in Salt Lake City. He worked as a commercial artist. He also worked at West End Laundry in Vernal.
Ray was an avid hiker, amateur archaeologist and loved history. He graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City and the University of Utah with a bachelors degree in fine arts.
Ray was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Ray was a fortunate man because he was able to live where and how he chose. He died on the land he cherished. "He will always be in our hearts."
He is survived by his wife, Cristina, Vernal; son, Michael Ray (Marta) Bailey, Salt Lake City; daughters, Danni (Rick) Sluder, Tyler, Texas; Susan (Daniel) Nielson, Salt Lake City; Laurie (Richard) Naylor, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; sister, Jeanine (Ken) Hedin, all of Salt Lake City; his cat, Dusty; and many friends of Vernal.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. at Thomson Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Services are under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Uintah Animal Society at First Security Bank in Vernal.
