|Birth: ||Nov. 25, 1875|
|Death: ||Jan. 11, 1920|
Daughter of Christopher & Mary Henning(nee;Ornes,) sister of William. Bro. & sister buried side by side, no markers.
Mother of Marie, Norman, Helen & Earl.
About 1893 Emma left her family home in Greenfield Twp., to take employment as a resident domestic in Highland Park, MI. It is in that community she met her future husband, Benjamin Duffy. On 15 Feb 1894, Ben and Emma eloped to Windsor, Canada and were married at the Methodist Church. At the insistance of Ben's mother Mary, Ben and Emma repeated their vows 01 Mar 1896 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5930 Woodward Ave. Detroit.
After about 15 years of something less than a blissfull marriage, Emma found it impossible to maintain a relationship with her husband Ben, and a separation took place about 1911. From that time on she and her children made their home at several different rentals during her all to short remaining years. The children each had to find employment at an early age in order to make ends meet.
The last place of residence for Emma was 2437 McDougal ave. Hamtramck MI. Sharing her home at the time of her passing were her two youngest children, Helen and Earl, both being employed.
