Confederate officer. Captain William Latane' , 9th Virginia Cavalry, was the only man killed during Jeb Stuart's first ride around McClellan in June 1862. He was killed at Linney's Corner on June 13, 1862.
Latane' was buried at Summer Hill Plantation. There is no gravestone in the cemetery there to Latane'. There is only a monument to him near the entry to the farm which is along Rt. 606, south of Old Church, Va.
