She is the daughter of William Turner and Mary Allie Gibson.

She and her husband John Green Simons had four children and She had 5 children from marriage to Jess Lucas.

The date of 1890 on Mattie's maker is different from Death Certificate and bible records from her oldest daughter Olie Mae Simons Weathers of June 7, 1891.

Note - in was difficult to trace Mattie in early US Census records as Mattie was listed using her nickname "Fannie" and at one point her mother was using her step father's last name of "Lucas" instead of her father's name of Turner for Mattie inclusing through her mother's remarriage to St. Ama, Fannie was listed in the St. Ama household in 1920 as Fannie Lucas with her other Lucas half siblings.
