He was born December 28, 1956 in Staunton, a son of the late Clyde and Ruth (Shaner) Brooks, formerly of Staunton.
He was a member of Midway Bible Baptist Church in Fishersville, where he was also the church treasurer, youth leader, camp leader, Sunday school teacher, and high school teacher in the Christian school. He was a loyal and faithful servant.
He is a former employee of DuPont, where he worked for 16 years. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1975 and was a graduate of Blue Ridge Community College and received a Masters Degree from Blue Mountain Baptist College.
Mr. Brooks dedicated his life to the Lord's work, working with thousands of youth through the last 27 years and gave himself unselfishly, ministering to them through the church and through the Christian school, along with maintaining church financial records along with so many other responsibilities.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David W. Brooks.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rhonda (Patterson) Brooks; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey B. Jr. and Elizabeth Brooks, Evan C. Brooks and Kevin W. Brooks; a daughter; Jinger D. Brooks, all of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Patricia (Brooks) Garber of Staunton. Also surviving are four nephews, Michael and Christopher Garber and David II and Dwayne Brooks.
Active pallbearers will be Dwayne Brooks, Aaron Brown, Greg Brown, Pete Brown, Simon Brown, Mike Garber, Bruce Pell, and Jimmy Shifflett.
Honorary pallbearers will be the teens attending the service.
