Mr. Edward M. " Tobe " Jernigan age 85 passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 28, 2009, at the Life Care Center of Columbia in Columbia, Tennessee. He was a resident of Sparta, Tn. He was born Sept. 22, 1923 in Sparta,TN to the late Ed and Ester Martin Jernigan.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Virgil (Buck) Jernigan, Addis Mae Denton, Charles Leaton Jernigan, and Dola Vean Cooper.



He lived his entire life in White County, TN. He was a member and former deacon of the Gum Springs Baptist Church.

He was a Farmer and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Johnnie McCoin Jernigan of Sparta,

2 Sons: Eddie Dean Jernigan & wife Jennifer of Nashville, TN and Johnny Michael Jernigan & wife Deborah of Columbia, TN.

5 Grandchildren: Reagan , Caleb, Brittany, Grant, and Catherine Blake

Funeral service will be Wednesday at Gum Springs Baptist Church. Burial in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Visitation Tuesday March 3, 2009 at Hunter Funeral Home. He will Lie- in-state till service time at Gum Springs Baptist Church on Wednesday March 4, 2009.

Bro. Brent Sims and Greg Long will officiate the services.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Senior Men
