Erma married Marlin Clayborn Styles on Christmas Day 1936. Marlin lived on a farm a few miles southwest of Cullman. Erma and Marlin had three children, Audrey Delene Styles and twins Donald Alan Styles and David Edgar Styles. Erma was a wonderful musician and was sought after to play for church services and funerals. She also sang with her brothers in the Burns Quartette. The family moved to Akron where Marlin worked in the war factories, then back to Cullman where Erma took care of her failing Mother, back to Akron, then to California, and finally home to Cullman. After returning to Cullman, Erma worked as a supervisor for the welfare department and Marlin worked as a machinist for a local firm.
