JOHN ALLEN BRAKEFIELD, 73, of Lake Cormorant, Miss., retired road maintenance employee of DeSoto County, died of cancer Friday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home in Hernando, Miss., with burial in New Bethlehem Cemetery in Horn Lake, Miss. Mr. Brakefield, the husband of Lela Brakefield, also leaves two daughters, Peggy Respess of Nesbit, Miss., and Mary Barnett of Senatobia, Miss.; a son, John Brakefield Jr. of Coldwater, Miss., three grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
