This tombstone has the family name spelled "Brown" without the "e". However, my grandfather always insisted that the name be spelled with the "e". A letter written to their mother Nancy McPherson Browne in 1849 is addressed to her with that spelling. Both his son's, Sidi W. Browne, tombstone and his brother's, Cyrus D Browne, tombstone are spelled with the "e". His sister Lucy Melvina Browne Johnson named one of her sons Franklin Browne Johnson.

Son of Darius Quimby & Nancy McPherson Browne. Married Rebecca Bowen Shannon Browne 27 Oct 1861.

Brother of Lucy Melvina Browne Johnson Caroline Matilda Thayer Browne Moore and Cyrus Darius Fletcher Browne . The Browne family except for Summer and Caroline lived in Warren Co. and Coffee Co., TN.

Father of Sidi Washington Browne and Mabel Browne wife of Robert Hatton Browne.
