Gardner R. Shippey, for many years a highly respected citizen of Morrisville, Vermont, died on May 15, 1906, at his home on Randolph St., near Wards mill, Tuesday afternoon, the cause of death being a bronchial affection of long standing supplemented by heart disease.

Mr. Shippey was a carpenter by trade and in his day had a well earned reputation as a builder of large barns, many examples of which are standing in this town and the towns of this vicinity. He was a veteran of the Civil War having served in the 3rd Vermont, Co. E.

He was about 73 years old,and is survived by one son, Fred, who lives in South Boston, and two brothers, William of Wolcott, and Milo of this town.

The funeral was held from his late residence, Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, Rev. P.A. Smith officiating. The service was under the G.A.R. ceremonial, the deceased being a member of James M. Warner Post, and interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery, Morristown, VT.
