Frank B. Gallegos, age 79, a resident of Rociada, N.M., since 1994 and longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday July 21, 2008, after a brief illness at the Kindred Hospital in Albuquerque.
He was born in Rociada on May 10, 1929, to Antonio Gallegos and Celia Duran Gallegos.
He was united in marriage in Sapello, N.M., on June 29, 1957, to Maria Duran.
He retired in 1994 from the University of New Mexico.
He was a very outgoing person and made friends easily. He enjoyed watching or attending rodeos. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbors.
A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Albuquerque and attended both mission church in Rociada and was also Mayordomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Antonio and Celia Gallegos and sister: Santos Baca.
He was survived by his wife: Maria D. Gallegos of the family home in Rociada; son: Carlos Gallegos and wife Lorie; grandsons: Levi and Andrew Gallegos all both of Albuquerque; brothers: Higñio Gallegos and wife Flora and Joe Gallegos and wife Donnie all of Albuquerque; sisters: Atilana Martinez of Rociada, N.M. and Priscilla Duran and husband Bernabe of Albuquerque; brother-in-law: Benito Duran and wife Celia of Las Vegas, N.M.; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted this evening at 7 at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday morning at 9 at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church, with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant.
Interment will follow at the Santo Niño Cemetery in Lower Rociada with the following serving as casket bearers: Adelidio Trujillo, Ernesto Sanchez, Joe Ortiz, Agustine Lucero, Luis Salazar and Charlie Trujillo.
