"The early settlers on the 'Swoveberg' were principally weavers from Wurtemberg. They took their wool to Martin APPLE who was the proprietor of the first carding, fulling and printing mill in this section. The mill was situated about 2-1/2 miles southwest of Hellertown. Prints and cloths were made here during the Revolutionary War. The business was carried on by Jacob G. APPLE until he sold his property to the North Penn Iron Company. Among the old families living on the hill, old looms can still be seen. Early settlers of the 'Swoveberg' were the CHRISTINEs, REICHARDs, KUNSMANs, ZEINERs, REISSes, WERSTs, and WASSERs." --"Saucon Valley Cavalcade", Legion Americanism Pagent, Hellertown, July 17-20, 1940.
