I SPENT LOTS OF TIME AT AUNT ANN'S HOUSE WHEN I WAS YOUNG. I ALWAYS FELT WELCOME THERE.

I REMEMBER SHE ALWAYS FIXED US KIDS BANANA SANDWICHES, CHIPS AND COKES FOR LUNCH.

THERE WAS A LITTLE STORE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF HER HOUSE AND US GIRLS WOULD WALK TO THE STORE AND BUY THE BREAD, CHIPS, BANANAS AND SODA FOR LUNCH.

SHE ALWAYS COOKED A GOOD DINNER FOR US, USUALLY WITH SOME KIND OF BEANS, MY FAVORITE WERE HER NAVY BEANS. SHE FIXED CREAMED POTATOES AND CORNBREAD TOO. OF COURSE THERE WERE OTHER THINGS, BUT, I MOSTLY REMEMBER THE ONES I LOVED TO EAT.

I CAN REMEMBER HER WASHING DISHES IN THE SINK. THE SINK WOULD BE PILED HIGH WITH SOAP SUDS. SHE SMOKED THEN AND HOW SHE DID SMOKE? SHE WOULD STAND AT THE KITCHEN SINK WITH THAT CIGARETTE IN HER MOUTH AND TALK UP A BLUE STREAK AND I ALWAYS EXPECTED THOSE LONG ASHES TO FALL INTO THE DISH WATER? I NEVER SAW THAT HAPPEN, ALTHOUGH UNTIL THIS DAY, I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY?

I WISH SHE HAD OF QUIT SMOKING LONG BEFORE SHE DID. HER HEALTH STARTED FAILING HER BEFORE SHE EVER QUIT. SHE REALLY LOVED THOSE CIGARETTES.

I AM SURE THEY ATTRIBUTED TO HER LUNG CANCER AND EVENTUALLY HER DEATH.

YOU WERE ALWAYS MY FAVORITE AUNT!

~~~A POEM FOR YOU~~~
Like a tiny seed
That fell to earth.
When no one cared
Or knew it's worth.
Through wind and rain
Sleet and snow.
It sprouted roots.
And began to grow.
Now Whoever thought
That you and me.
Would be one branch
Of that mighty tree.
~~~With Love Aunt Ann~~~

My All Time Favorite Aunt from both sides of the family. She was just sweet Ann, never tried to be something she wasn't, just herself, that is why she is loved and missed so much♥
