Highly Respected Citizen Dies At the Age of 80 Years.
Thomas J. Boylan, a highly respected citizen of Stoughton for more than a half century, died Monday at his home, 12 (sic) Water street. He was 80 years of age. He was born in New Ross, N.S., April 7, 1852, the son of Richard and Katherine (Donnellen) Boylan. He received his education in the schools of his native town. He came to this country 55 years ago and 52 years ago settled in this town. He married Miss Mary McNamara many years ago. He was a carpenter by trade and was held in high regard.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, William F. of New York, and Richard A. Boylan at home; four sisters in New Ross, N.S.; two brothers, Richard of West Somerville, and A.L. Boylan of North Wilbraham.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from the home, followed by a requiem high mass in the Immaculate Conception church at 9 o'clock, where many relatives, neighbors and other friends were present. Burial was in Holy Sepulchre cemetery.
