Mathias Widener, an old and respected citizen of Monitor, died about 8:30 o'clock yesterday morning at his house in that place. He had been ill for some time with stomach trouble, but the immediate cause of death was heart trouble. He was 70 years' old and moved to Monitor from Frankfort about fifteen years ago. A widow and four children survive, viz: Mrs. John Whiteman, of this city, is a daughter. The deceased was a member of the United Brethren church and was a veteran of the civil war. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock and the interment will be made in the Zion cemetery.
